Joe Maloney
Joe Maloney is a qualified, accredited and licensed Mental Health Coach and founder of MindGrind Wellbeing. As a qualified professional life coach, Joe has formally trained in psychotherapy, counselling, cognitive behavioural therapies and recovery-oriented treatments. He holds a professional accreditation in coaching with neuroscience.
Joe is a passionate advocate of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing and has vast therapeutic experience working with clients facing difficult aspects of life, including challenges around anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief and low mood disorders. He also works with both adult and adolescent clients on the autistic spectrum. Joe collaborates with clients on a one-to-one basis through a combination of therapeutic, practical and immersive techniques, in a way that’s hugely accessible, evidence-based and enjoyable.
Joe works with clients in the Howth Road Therapy Centre in Dublin, with younger clients in their own home in line with child protection policies, and also online with clients outside of Dublin.
Joe worked for many years in Dublin City University’s School of Nursing, Psychotherapy & Community Health where he managed projects around evidence-based healthcare, mental healthcare service provision, evaluation of effective therapeutic models, clinical nursing research and post research ethics. As Clinical Research Coordinator, he co-authored a national research study evaluating nursing and midwifery roles in clinical research. Joe also worked in DCU’s community-based counselling and psychotherapy service, the Healthy Living Centre and was also involved in projects within the HLC’s neurofeedback clinic and recovery college.
Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from CIT and is also a graduate of Dublin City University, Griffith College Dublin, TU Dublin and Marino Institute of Education. He is committed to continuous professional development and has completed formal training in: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Stress Response, Life Skills Programme (Aware), Developmental Psychology, Family Systems, Children First (HSE), Child Protection (National Youth Council of Ireland), Best Practice Guidance for Mental Health Services (HSE), Mental Health Services’ Recovery in Mental Health (HSE), Counselling and Psychotherapy, Stress Control (NHS/HSCNI), The Science of Wellbeing (Yale University) and Psychological First Aid (Johns Hopkins University). In addition, Joe has workshopped and performed in improv acting and comedy improv based entirely on ‘present moment awareness’.
